5280 Recovery High School is a free, public charter school designed specifically for students recovering from substance use and other mental health challenges. The school is part of Denver Public Schools and is located in the Southwest area of Denver.
Yes! As a public charter school, we are always tuition free. There is no cost to attend and we are open to students from all backgrounds.
No, we accept students from across the Denver metro area. In fact, free transportation is offered throughout the area to help ensure we’re serving the students who need us.
We are a recovery school designed specifically for students who are dealing with substance use and co-occurring disorders. Students are all at various stages of their recovery journeys. We are here to support them no matter where they are.
As a recovery school, we have two criteria for attending: all students must be willing to try to remain sober, and all students must work with an outside program of recovery or be willing to start one. Learn more.
We are a high school and open to grades 9-12.
We accept students who are between 13 to 20 years old.
Here, recovery is built into the school day. Through our comprehensive recovery program, students receive mental health services, weekly recovery meetings, and an overall culture of encouragement. Learn more about recovery at 5280.

Yes, 5280 offers credit recovery options for students who need to make up credits and stay on track for graduation. Our team works closely with each student to create a plan that supports their academic progress while meeting them where they are.
5280 offers Gifted & Talented programming, college coursework concurrent enrollment, Intersession (offering two-day deep dives in areas of passion for students), senior projects and more. Plus, all students have the option of 45 minutes of tutoring and additional academic support every day, and more. Learn about our many offerings.
Yes, we provide free transportation throughout the Denver metro, dependent upon availability. During the enrollment process, you will be able to connect with the Transportation Director to determine options for your student. Learn more.
5280 Recovery High School is open to enroll students year-round. To get started, fill out this form and a member of our team will reach out to you. As a note, because of our unique program, 5280 Recovery High School does not participate in Denver Public Schools’ SchoolChoice enrollment process.
A charter school is a tuition-free public school that operates independently from traditional district-run schools.
